“Where did the music begin? I inherited a guitar from my Grandfather when I was 19 years old. My older brother taught me some chords and the rest is history. Music has wrapped me up like an encouraging hug. It has brought me to the staggering tops of mountains and to the comfort of the warm ocean. Through the hardest times in my life, it carried me like a wise mage, reminding me character and creativity was mine alone. It was also there to escalate me to glorious heights, and build unbreakable bonds with friends that I will have until I pass. I owe a lot to music, and so grateful for it in my life.” - Max

Of late, Max has been playing with the Max Mackey Band, bringing his version of Genuine Americana Rock, to venues all over Colorado, With the bands Vocals pushing the echelon, Max’s swirling guitar pulling listeners to creative spaces, and general energy taking it rightful place up front, the Max Mackey Band is not one to miss. Max is also found playing Solo with his trusty Martin guitar ‘Grace’. “Solo shows are an opportunity to strip down sonically and play this music differently,” says Max. “I get to explore my voice, and allow vulnerability that comes from a ‘nowhere to hide’ space.” Max’s solo shows are intimate and expressive and make for a great time.
